From Jan:

Dear Students,

Dear Parents,

About 15 years ago a parent came up to me and asked, “I spent $500.00 on the TIP sheet for college. Will it help?"

I am a trained analyst (engineering/standards), a credentialed teacher (3 credentials), educational therapist and certified college counselor. I answered, “No”. This one event changed the course of my life, because I knew I do better for students and families. I have mentored almost 200 students from college admissions to Graduate School admissions.

It is all about one student at a time and doing it in such a way, that there are more smiles and less tears.

ONLINE SERVICES. I work with students from across the United States and around the world.

Dear Parents,

Dear Students,

Dear Parents,

For the past 17+ years you have told your child, "If you work hard enough and study hard enough you'll get into a great school."  Well, it is that that time - Welcome to College Admissions.

You're reading this because you want the best for your child, and as such, I will share a few things.

Please don't focus on spreadsheets, odds and statistics. Don't assume that just because your child is a strong writer, they won't need help.

Let me do the heavy lifting through my experiences and skillset. I can guide you and your child through this important event all your lives.

One parent wrote me a letter and said "This was the best money I ever spent. Instead of micromanaging my son, I could just love him through this whole process."

So, continue to be your child's biggest fan and cheerleader. I will be with you and your child every step of the way.

Dear Students,

Dear Students,

Dear Students,

For the past 17+ years you have heard "If you work hard and study enough, you will get into a great school"  Well, it is that time - Welcome to College Admissions. This is a BIG step for sure. Now you are ready to show everyone that you are prepared. No question is ever wrong nor stupid.

"you just know."

About Jan

Why I Do What I Do!

I didn't start out as a teacher. I started out in engineering and went from private to government to education. As the last of the Presidio of San Francisco Facility Managers, on my final day, I sent a note to the Park Service, "Here is the last of the Army's keys. Good luck and call me if you need anything." The next day I became a full-time teacher in many grade levels, primarily 8th and above. In addition, I have taught AP classes, writing classes in both private and public schools and developed enrichment programs.

It was that one parent who asked me to help with their child’s college application that lead me to my present journey as college counselor. I trained  under some of the best admission officers and private counselors and  have worked with a a variety of schools. Finally, I became a certified college counselor with over 200 students past and current.- one student at a time.

My students have been accepted to Ivy League schools, public schools, Performing Arts schools, and community colleges, transferring to great 4-year colleges. Many go on to professional studies, including law and medical schools and master's programs in the US and worldwide. I helped launch them into lives they realize were theirs for the taking. -    JB
